<골절학 교과서 2판을 발행하면서..>

대한골절학회 회원님들의 왕성한 활동으로 정형외과 외상 분야는 명실상부하게 정형외과의 고유의 영역으로 자리매김 하고 있습니다. 한편으로는 이러한 발전에도 불구하고 외상 영역은 단순한 고에너지 손상뿐만 아니라 노령화 및 기저질환 혹은 선행 치료로 인한 노인성 골절, 병적골절 그리고 치환물 주위골절 등 환자의 구성도 다양해지고 있습니다. 그리고 진단 기법의 발전으로 인하여 전신 및 국소 적인 골절 합병증도 흔하게 경험하고 있습니다. 이제는 정형외과 의사로서 양질의 치료를 시행함도 중요하지만 합병증을 예방하고 잘 대처하는 것도 그에 못지 않게 중요하다고 할 수 있습니다.
최신 지견과 모범 증례는 치료의 기준이 되기도 하고 외상과 연관된 재활과 보험심사 및 배상 분야까지 영향을 미치고 있음은 당연한 것이기도 합니다. 이러한 점에서 2013년 본 학회에서 출간한 ‘골절학’은 1985 년 학회 창립 이후의 치열한 활동의 결실이라고 할 수 있습니다. 지난 5년여 동안 외상 및 골절 분야에서는 눈부신 발전이 있었습니다. 이에, 최신 지견과 다양한 치료 술식 및 재료의 발전에 부합하기 위하여 ‘골절학’ 의 변신에 대한 요구가 있었습니다. 1년여 준비기간을 거쳐 이제 여러 회원님들의 성원으로 새로운 2판을 엮을 수 있었습니다.

새로운 ‘골절학’은 기초적인 이해를 강조하고자 내용을 보강하였으며 각론 영역에서는 최신 지견을 담고 이에 부합하는 적절한 증례를 삽입함으로써 이해를 증진시키고자 하였습니다. 또한 일부에서 동영상을 함께 제공하였습니다. 이에 새로운 ‘골절학’이 정형외과 외상의 치료에 중요한 밑거름이 될 수 있다고 자부하는 바입니다.
최신 지견이 담긴 원고를 작성하고 주옥 같은 증례를 아낌없이 내어주신 51분의 집필진, 각 영역별 간사와 부간사님들께 공을 돌려드립니다. 마지막으로 여러 가지 궂은 역할을 모두 소화해 주신 인제대 오형근 교수와 1판 제작의 경험을 아낌없이 나누어주신 한양대 박기철 교수 그리고 책을 만들어준 범문에듀케이션 여러분께 개인적으로 고마움을 표하는 바입니다.
